For those above who said we could use more rain and snow:

The above is what happens when we have more of both. We don't need a lot of rain or snow here since we were once the bottom of an ocean and excess moisture tends to stick around for a long time (we've had a couple of record breaking snowfalls the past couple of years and more than enough rain). Two to three feet of snow in the winter and 10 inches of rain come spring/summer (nicely spaced out) is perfect.

Winters are very scary, and the shoulder seasons aren't any improvement from here, quite the opposite. Like the summers, though. And I would like to taste the Saskatoon berries.

Ariete I'm pretty sure you'd love a slice of saskatoon pie, syrup, jam or tea.

I sent some to a fellow from Germany that was living in Montreal (before he was transferred to Mexico). He loved all I sent (he hadn't tried them before). We used to exchange plants but, after reading Germans are importing a lot of the saskatoon berry products from local producers I sent him those instead.

Don't know if you folks have chokecherries there but they also make very good jellies and my oh my homemade chokecherry brandy is the best!

Most certainly I would! Love all more or less wild berries. The Saskatoon pie looks like our blueberry pie. Probably excellent!

The best, though, is saskatoons picked right off the bush, while still warm from the late afternoon sun. The window of harvest is very narrow.

Now if this comes to pass I think where we live will be one of the best places in North America:

A bit too cold in winter, other than that, a pretty good climate.

This is very interesting. What is the reason for this 'island' with a high precip anomaly surrounded by droughty areas?
