Looks like the first big freeze (widespread) of the year is occuring up north... have any of you in the area had your big freeze yet? I know the low in parts of northern MN are supposed to be as low as 15° tonight! BRRR!

Enjoying upper 60s here in Tennessee at 2:30am hour.

I am a weather forecaster in Grand Forks ND (along the ND/MN border). We had 33 Wed am and expect about 28 this Thursday morning. 15-20 degree readings would be very isolated only in some of the coldest spots in the valleys of the arrowhead. Most places will be in the mid 20s through northern Minnesota. A week or two ahead of schedule, but welcome nonetheless by myself.

I'm a little higher in elevation, but not much (3800 ft). We had our first freeze on the 26th of August. This cold front moving down right now is not quite reaching us. We have lower then average daytime temps, but our nightime temps are still in the mid 40's.

Wow, you have an early freeze there! Its a good place to be if you like cold weather though isnt it?

We typically get our first freeze in late October... but with the weather we have now, seems like it could happen this month, LOL. We have our first fall cool spell happening tonight, with lows near 50° forecasted tonight, but thats really cool for us this time if year... we are at 1500 ft. elevation however in east Tennessee. We are to be back up in the 80s though for highs by Monday... our normal high is still 80° for the date, so it will get back to normal anyway, but we all know these cold snaps get colder and go further and further south.
