How would you find extreme temperature changes during winter in continental climates? (snow, warm)

I'm wondering how other people perceive extreme temperature changes during winter in continental climates, especially those from subtropical, mediterranean and oceanic climate zones. I'm going to put up a poll to get a sense of how people feel about it. I'm going to use Wichita, KS as an example for this as it seems to be the poster child for this. Here is February 2011 in Wichita...
What do you think? For me, I don't like it at all.. so I choose "I can't stand it! Get me out of here!"
I picked "can't stand it" all though I would probably prefer a witchita winter to a Toronto winter.
Both are probably equally cold at their worst, but wichita less snow, more sun, more daylight and longer, stronger mild spells in between.
As Lamplight said "punched in the crotch" or "kicked in the crotch."
The unstable southern continental / northern sub-tropical winters hold no appeal for me. Freeze, then melt, freeze, then melt... I've felt than in Calgary with the chinooks, and it's like a little tease of making you hope for something better, followed by the inevitable disappointment when it all refreezes the next day and one slips and falls on one's behind.
Same monthly mean (33°F), smaller range (it's never even recorded -17°F). Which would you prefer?
I think I prefer your home town.. doesn't get close to the wild temperature swings that Wichita gets.. if it's going to be cold... I'd rather it stay cold.
I chose the second option. Wild temperature swings are interesting and I haven't experienced ones to the extent that they witness down south or in the central plains, but after a while they could get annoying, especially in the winter when it causes major thaws.

Yea, at first I was going to go with Wichita; thinking at least they're some warm days. But my home town had some mild days and looked a real winter month while Wichita seemed like it had several seasons in a month going on. Dressing and heating places could get difficult.
Voted "It's alright from time to time but not all the time."
It's nice having a few spring days during winter. And during cold snaps you can image yourself living in Canada. "So this is how it feels". Most of the really cold days are also bright and sunny so it's not so bad.
