Heathrow has increased something like 50 hours in the last ten years. A proportional increase at Bognor would be something like 60-70 hours.
Our posts just crossed, so some confusion. I'm happy to see updated numbers for Bognor if anyone has them.

Wonderful day in ChCh today: 26 C high although cloudier than I would like (just high cloud though). However, Wednesday is looking pretty grim with a 12 C high, rain and cold southerlies. Such is life in this changable mid-latitude maritime climate...

Yikes.. I don't think Vancouver has ever seen a 14C nosedive in temperatures in 48 hours!

LOL, it doesn't raise an eyebrow here. I suppose this kind of extreme day-to-day variation keeps things interesting in a climate where there really isn't much of interest (little seasonality, few extremes of heat / cold, etc.).

The South Coast of Australia seems to be similar in this respect. In summer they can easily go from 38 C one day to 22 the next.

Bognor Spring 46.3 Summer 51.4 Autumn 42.5 Winter 29.9 Year 44.3
(winter cloudiest, summer sunniest).

Correction: Ch'ch spring total should be 596 - other numbers are correct.

Bognor, I guess the sunniest place in the UK, gets 51% sunshine for summer. I consider that quite cloudy. I was in Arcata, CA once in summer for a training class (only a week), but I thought it really cloudy. You would be hard pressed to find a place in the US with such low % of possible sun in summer, outside of Alaska or Hilo, HI. Arcata (Eureka), averages about 55% for summer. I have a better understanding now of how coudy the UK really is if Bognor is the sunniest bit and it gets 51%.

Arcata/Eureka records higher sunshine in spring than summer so that's a bit misleading. Along most of the California coast, summer tends to draw in fog and clouds from the Pacific.

Pittsburgh's summers look slightly cloudier than Arcata in the spring.
