Relative to average it has not been mild here in Buxton since 20th November when it reached 13°C. In winter "mild" is 8-9°C or higher.

Yes, here its been 7/8/9c which isn't mild its just that owenc likes freezing cold temperatures....

But it has been mild compared to recent days. I mean for the past few weeks most days have been like 2/3c.

So 7c is quite mild.

Although tomorrow its back to 3c again.

No.

I just apply recent weather i.e over past month to what we are getting now. No point in comparing averages, mild is not what averages say but what you feel. So if its been -20c for two months 5c will feel mild, even if it is below average.
