I've been to HK in April, July and September and each time it had the allure of a giant, open-air sauna or pressure cooker. So Amritsar it is, mainly for the lower humidity and cooler lows in "winter", plus the possibility of some sub-zero temperatures, albeit rare.
Amritsar. Hong Kong is a nightmare of gloominess in spring, has roller-coaster temps in winter, and too wet summers. Amritsar is much sunnier and quite interesting actually. I like that "hot climate with some variety" type. There are many types of enjoyable days. Mild winter days, classic heat in spring/fall, burning dry heat of May-June (though too hot even for me but I'm OK with it), and moist tropical conditions in July-September. Very nice.
Ah, back to the battle of the two horrors . I'll pick Amritsar. It's much cooler at night in winter and there may be a chance for me to be comfortable during that time of year, and although the summer is quite a bit hotter I don't imagine it feels that much worse than HK.
