Climate battle: NYC vs. D.C. (temperature, Chicago, storms, seasons)

Both are lousy climates, but I pick NYC. They average enough snow so that one can expect at least one significant snow event per winter, which is more than I can say for DC. The summers are also slightly cooler.
Notice that this doesn't impact my own view that NYC's winters are a joke. The snow event(s) will probably melt inside of a week. It's just better than DC's situation.
Washington DC. Although summers there are too warm, that's really only 2 months out of the year (July and August). I like the much earlier springs compared to NYC. Also, Washington DC is noticeably drier.
are the springs in DC that much earlier?
Also which city is better in the winter? NYC looks 5 degrees colder average high, but more sunnier? But more snowier?
Is there that much diff in these two cities?
How about air quality differences ...that is kind of "weather" also.
