Didn't realize Mt Washington was up there. Wonder if the snow helps that number. Here's a map of the Lower 48

Wow.. so does Seattle get over 180 days? Wow!

I guess it depends on the threshold you use.. at 0.1mm dew can affect the reading and count as a precipitation day

The threshold is 0.2mm in Canada and 0.01 in (0.25mm) in the USA. Seattle gets 150 days/year and SeaTac (the airport) gets 151 days per year. By comparison, Yakima, WA gets 65 days per year.

The greater than 180 days that you see on the map is for high up in the Cascade Mountains as well as the Olympic Mountains.

Seattle only averages 5 and 6 days in July and August.

Mt. Washington is one of the few high mountains (relative to surrounding terrain) with an official weather station. A station at 6000 feet in the Cascades or Olympics of Washington might read higher.

The Olympic Mountains would be even wetter. As for the Cascades, it really depends on which side of the mountain you're on. 6,000 ft east of the divide will only give you about 130 rain days while the west side of the divide would easily make 200.

No one beat Alaska (in the USA). Annette gets 221 days, Cold Bay gets 228 days, Juneau gets 219, and Yakutat gets 232 days. All of these places are at sea level.

Lots of places in Canada beat Alaska though. examples:

1) MORESBY ISLAND MITCHELL INLET, BC ...........275 days (52.9°N, 3m elev.)
2) LANGARA, BC .................................269 days (54.3°N, 41m elev.)

lol, I knew all that...so are you implying every mountain/location at 6000 feet would have 180 days + of precip?

No, just some in Washington State. My point was Mt. Washington isn't truly the highest in the lower 48 states, though you already knew that. 6000 feet is high above the lowlands in New Hampshire and western Washington State, it's in on a plain in much of the Mountain West. Looking at the map, a few spots in the Northern Rockies might reach at least 200 days. And of course mountains in western Oregon. California is hard, since the dry season is so strong even in the mountains. The Sierra Nevada are one of the more rainless non-desert high mountains of the world in the summer. People have done long distance backpacking there without a tent.
