The name is kinda weird. Apakei sounds like a Polynesian name and fjord...

Anyway, this is technically a Dwb climate with a short monsoon and pretty nice, long summers. True winter is only three months in comparison to roughly five months of summer. Roughly two months of Fall and 1.5 months of Spring...roughly.

The nadir of winter is August which is by far the coldest month. High temperatures as low as -40F/C have been recorded but it is very rare.

The summer monsoon brings frequent and very strong thunderstorms and also keeps high temperatures from getting too high. As you can see, the drier portion of summer has slightly higher average maximums and much higher record maximums.

I rate this an A+ because of the variety.

I give this a C+. Most of the year is dry, with two months of horrendous rainfall totals. Real winters with snow (could use more snow but current levels are okay), and acceptable temperatures year round. Although I already cast my vote, I just noticed the whole thunderstorm thing, and that bumps it up to a B-.

A bit on the cool side, summer thunderstorms are nice but I'd like precipitation to be more evenly spread. Sunshine hours are good though they seem unrealistic during the summer monsoon.

I give it a B-. It's a tough one to rate. The winters, such as they are, are pretty nice, but the summers are too warm and too long. There's also too much sunshine and the snowfall window is too short.

Nice one! I like the extreme records and the fact that high winter, despite being severe, is quite short. Another appreciable feature are the double-digit (°C) record lows in January, February and March. I really like the idea of having a long mild/warmish season, but with guaranteed cold winters. Otherwise, summer highs are quite feeble and precipitation needs to be better distributed.
