Well the average range in my dream climate between the lowest temperature and highest temperature recorded would be around 50C (-20C / 30C).

I interpreted "temperature variation" to mean differently than some other posters. What'd the OP mean?

I was referring to average temps not extremes.

I would like 12/13C of annual range. They would give me the winters I get now and summers 2C warmer - my perfect climate.

Where I live now has a range of 42C (-13.7C average January Low to 28.6C average July high). I don't mind it too much. You can certainly feel the seasons. The only other place I've lived has a range of 41C. So I can't really make an informed decision if I'd like something else better. Everyone else in the USA seems to think the weather is awful here though. At least it's not as bad as Yakutsk, Russia! Their variation is 67C!!!!!!!!
