Actually i'm fine with our sunrise/sunset times, though one hour more sunlight in the evening would be nice,i like those nights in summer when we don't get true darkness between Late May and Late July.
But shifting the times by one hour ahead would be nice too.

Times at present at summer and winter solstice
21st June: Sunrise: 04:56, Sunset: 21.59
21st December: Sunrise: 08:40, Sunset: 16:07

So in June we would have sunlight from 05:56 to 22:59, that would mean civil twilight would last almost to midnight (23:53 at its latest). And in return a sunrise at 6 AM is not too late in my opinion and there would still be civil twilight about 5 AM.

In return, winter solstice would have its sunrise about 09:40, which would mean civil twilight would not start before about 9 AM. For that we would have our sunset at 17:07, so on clear days it would be light outside until shortly before 6 PM even in December. Personally brighter evenings are more important to me than brighter mornings so i think i could easily live with that.

I'd live on the 30th parallel so:

winter:
8AM-6PM

summer:
7AM - 9PM

^^^ this is perfect for 30°N. I could even bump it to 8.30am-6.30pm in winter. I don't care about early sunrises, I'm okay with a late sunrise as long as it's before 8.30am.

I like the sunrise/sunset times that I have in my own climate, and these are ideal. However, in order to live in my dream climate, I'd have to sacrifice long hours of summer daylight.

For mid latitude locations (which is where my dream climate would be located), Boise, ID at 43.37N is about as good as it can get:

March 17th: 07:53/19:54
June 21st: 06:04/21:30
September 25th: 07:36/19:37
December 21st: 08:15/17:11

Late sunsets are more important than early sunrises.

I didn't realize Boise's sunsets came so late year round. LOVE IT! Granted in summer it isn't MUCH later than Seattle (about 19 minutes), but in winter it is nearly an hour! I'll take those later sunrises for the later sunsets yes oh yes!

Yes, it's quite a revelation. Although it is right on the western edge of the mountain time zone. Their sunset time on 21st June is only 37 minutes earlier than where I live, just beneath the 56th parallel.
