Assuming we're being realistic (no cheating with long or short days year round, average has to be around 12 hours), what would your dream climate's sunrise and sunset times by month?
A good way to answer this is to start by defining your climate's latitude, then average solar noon and whether daylight savings time is used or not.
Mine, Luxania, is at 14°N without DST.
Solar noon is rather late; 1.33 PM on average.
That gives us:
Jan 1: 7.58 AM / 7.15 PM Jan 15 : 8.02 AM / 7.23 PM (latest sunrise)
Feb 1: 8.01 AM / 7.32 PM
Mar 1: 7.49 AM / 7.41 PM
Apr 1: 7.28 AM / 7.45 PM
May 1: 7.10 AM / 7.50 PM
Jun 1: 7.02 AM / 7.59 PM (earliest sunrise)
Jul 1: 7.07 AM / 8.06 PM (latest sunset)
Aug 1: 7.16 AM / 8.02 PM
Sep 1: 7.21 AM / 7.43 PM
Oct 1: 7.22 AM / 7.22 PM
Nov 1: 7.28 AM / 7.03 PM
Nov 23: 7.38 AM / 7.00 PM (earliest sunset)
Dec 1: 7.42 AM / 7.01 PM
Sunset is never before 7.00 PM, and occurs on or after 8 PM from June 4 to August 6.
Sunrise doesn't matter too much to me - it sucks getting up when it's still dark, but I'm usually up early enough that it's dark most of the year, so whatever. But when it comes to sunsets, I like them to be on the later side, especially in the winter.
Here in Vancouver the sun sets around 4:15PM at its earliest, and when combined with the super thick clouds that are common during winter it means it starts getting dark really early. Even at noon some days during the winter it still seems really dark out. By comparison, in Saskatchewan the sun sets around 5:00pm at its latest, and the skies are generally clear, so even at the winter solstice you can still have light on the horizon at 6:00pm. There's a big difference between them, and I prefer late sunsets myself. And then in summer, I love the late sunsets we get here in Canada
I couldn't really give a specific time for each, but I would say I'd like the sunset to be at least 5:00pm in the winter, and at least 9:00 or 9:30 in the summer. Sunrise, preferably no later than 8:00 or 8:30 in the winter and sometime before 6:00 during the summer.

This is without taking into account the rather low sun angle at 53N+. I remember being out on a sunny day in Newcastle in July and the sun just wasn't strong enough for it to feel genuinely summer-like imho. I think Paris is a good compromise, as it gets a decent seasonal daylength variation without suffering too much from the weak summer sun syndrome. Or maybe I'm just used to it. Ideally, I'd like Leeds' seasonal variation and winter sun angle and Rome's summer sun angle.
I really like what I have right now, including the daylight saving time.

So would I.
