Hard to believe how much drier Tampa is than Daytona Beach.

5pmEST Dewpoints. Top right are the departures. 20-25 below normal from gulf coast to northeast

Bottom right are the dewpoints at the mid levels. Bone dry.

I assume there's a High Pressure over the Mid Atlantic. Haven't looked at the surface map.

Exactly. Tampa is a fantastic climate temp-wise, but after learning how dry the west coast gets routinely...I guess there is really no place like home.

Wind from the Gulf. Why is it so dry?

That 27 DP is actually about normal for mid January. The 20s in Minnesota is well above normal. Winds definitely from the gulf.

So looks like the humid gulf (if it is still considered that mid Winter) is having its affects bringing up dewpoints south to north.

Still below normal here... but they are on the rise now.

Looked at the long range stuff, looks like Dewpoints may get to 40s into Kentucky on Tuesday 21st but 40s north of Florida next 2 weeks hard to come by

That's my point. Our high temperature today was 13 above normal. With the dewpoint not rising along with it, the relative humidity becomes uncomfortably low.

lol. Everytime you post here it makes me check the dewpoints. And I realize why I didn't post all last winter... Something about dewpoints below 40 that I don't bother checking... unless it's below zero. Just seems normal for me... So thanks for posting to remind me to check and post some stuff.

Current Dewpoints across the country. Pretty much 20s/30s out there except for South Texas & South Florida. Believe it or not, only the South East is below normal

It's just amazing how far that bone dry air can seep down. Places in Minnesota/North Dakota with higher DPs than northern Florida.
