Not at all unreasonable, the airport sits along a large, very shallow lagoon in a massive urban area. Initially, the NWS questioned the accuracy of the reading, but after what I assume was an investigation, it remains official.

*I used to live near there, I should’ve mentioned that, I see my post sounds a bit misleading. Southwestern Long Island (then) and Central Long Island (now), there’s not a mega difference between the two, except the lows are a few degrees warmer in western Long Island, highs are roughly the same.

Oh nice! Thanks for that, I was totally wrong then.

Interesting, JFK does seem to be a bit more humid than NYC or LGA most of the time, makes sense being on the south shore I guess. 84 is incredible though.

nothing too detailed. From the NWS down there:

We will remain under a short wave ridge aloft and dry surface high
pressure over the southeastern CONUS tonight. As such, we will have
a final pleasantly cool night with mins falling to the lower 60s due
to excellent radiational conditions under clear skies with near-calm
winds.

checking model maps, dewpoint at 925 hPa (3000 feet or so). Airflow from the north or at least not the Gulf or Ocean. Hurricane might be helping?

Zonal pattern, bit of a ridge centered on the middle of the country, but not Bermuda pumping hot & humid at us, just a dome of hot, dry continental air. Humid very west, Mississippi valley-ish

Spoiler

Anytime a tropical system is to our northeast it drags down dry air aloft giving us even less rain.
