The cold needs to get in and then build to get that.

It does look lasting longer than a few days though, it has the potential with the pressure in Iceland at that.

The average hi/lo for the first 8 days of January are 12.6/7.3°C (54.7/45.1°F) at Orly airport.

Maybe it will be like in 2007 (warmest January on record so far): an ice day for the fun and then back to very mild weather.

Sure. Where do I sign?

We got 20.6 hours. Not even cloudy, at least for our standards.

Our rivers, brooks and Lakes are frozen here and with temps soaring into the 50s with rain and wind gusts to 50mph there's potential for Ice Jams now.

NWS NY

PREPARE FOR A POTENTIAL HIGH IMPACT HYDROLOGIC EVENT.

AN OUTLOOK WILL BE ISSUED COVERING THE POTENTIAL FOR ICE JAM FLOODING ALONG LOCAL AREA RIVERS CAUSED BY HEAVY RAIN AND TEMPERATURES RISING SHARPLY THROUGH THE 50S STARTING SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EXTENDING THROUGH SUNDAY.

IN ADDITION...A WIND SWEPT HEAVY RAIN MAY CAUSE WIDESPREAD URBAN FLOODING AS A FROZEN SURFACE GROUND LAYER THAWS RESULTING IN SIGNIFICANT RUNOFF. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE FORECAST EAST OF NEW YORK CITY ACROSS LONG ISLAND AND CT WHERE GUSTS OF 40-50 MPH ARE POSSIBLE.

It was fun but just not enough. I want 1 straight week of 30mph+ winds with wind chills colder and air temp cold or the same for at least a week straight. Is that too much to ask? LOL In fact, I've gotten used to single digits, teens and 20s now that I don't even go outside with a hooded sweatshirt anymore. Just Tshirt and Long Sleeve shirt on top. No scarf, jacket, or long johns.

Here's my OBS graphed out from my station.
Outside temps nicely stayed below 12F for good 24hrs.
Winds gusted over 25mph for a good 18hrs.
Wind chills stays below 0F for a good 24hrs
Dewpoints staying at or below 0F for 2 days now.
