C+

Summers seem too hot (despite brief) and probably have no 'relief' days. Winters seem too long, cool and wet - where it's likely that you can get sick more often due to no vitamin D from the sun.

Odd that it has 3100 hours of sun considering its long wet winters.

I've been to Ierapetra. Very nice. My favorite part of Crete is Chania and Sfakia.

As for the climate. Awesome sunshine. Very proper summer highs and lows. Good autumn and spring temps. Other than that quite boring. A lot like SoCal, but SoCal is warmer in the winter.

B+. Loses points for the sweltering July - August and wetter than ideal winter. Otherwise very good.

B+
Downsides: Winters are mild and summers are dry.
Still better than many European climates...

An average high just shy of 32C in July/Aug isn't that hot at all really. Especially considering the very low RH% levels.

I've been to Ierapetra. It was quite windy on the day that I was there, but it is usually windy in summer on Crete (moreso on the north coast) I'd give the climate a B-. Mediterranean climates aren't my favourite, but it still has reasonably good summers and good precipitation totals in the winter.

The sunshine data reference seems to be sound. Some marks off for winter rainfall being too high. Rates an A: less rain would put into the A+ for me.

I give a C for this climate because is too dry in the summer and the rain is always cold in this climate (I don't like the cold rain), I prefer the short warm rain in the summer with a good sunshine hours.

A dry summer is very boring for me.
