I don't think it's too cold for olive groves and olive oil production. I guess they can grow olives, figs, peaches, apricots and lots of subtropical fruits.

In the coast of Evros region (which is located the city) snow is rarer than inlands. In the town of Orestiada for example which is northern of Alexandroupoli in the same region the climate is the same as Edirne in Turkey and has more snow and colder weather in winter and hotter weather in summer. No in North Greece we grow olives but not much as the south. Also many cities in the North have cloudy weather in winter I don 't know what. Ioannina the city I live is the cloudiest in the country due to the western orientation of the city. I n Alexandroupoli I don 't know why it is cloudy. I think it is the same reason as Istanbul because both are on the east and close to each other. I think it is due to the winds and humidity from the sea? :/

D. Winter minimums are colder than many parts of the UK, with the maximums about the same as the milder parts... Summers are ok & the fairly cool summer minimums would be refreshing...
