How are "summer" and "hot" days defined where you live?
Is anything above 30C considered hot?
Yes a maximum of 30°C/ 86°F and above is considered a hot day according to the definition of the DWD.
Also a maximum of 25°C/ 77°F and above is considered a summer day.
When using these terms i always refer to the definitions of the DWD.
I would even set the limits for hot and summer day a little lower, to maybe 23°C/ 73°F and 28°C/83°F respectively because to me such a day feels hot to me and they are compared to the warmest regions of Germany rather a rare occurence.
Vice versa in places with a hot summer, a hot day being called so when the mercury hits 32°C/ 90°F and above makes probably more sense.
Number of >30C days in 2014:
June: 0
July: 0
August: 2
(We also had a 30+-degree day in May, which was the hottest day of the year so far and likely will end up being the hottest day of 2014).
June was very cool. July and August were near normal. July also featured low standard deviations, which I like.
Yup here too, we had 33.3C in May.
