Ppl saying oceanic without heating cleraly haven't lived at least a while in that climate. I live on the border of oceanic and continental and even mild winters with highs ~5C and lows ~0 would be unbearable without any kind of heating. I would have to wear jackets all the time at home, temp would drop to ~10C, everyone would be sick.
And you have to remember that even in oceanic climates there are freeze snaps.

Oceanic climate without heating is much more livable. If it's cold inside, dealing with it is as easy as putting on a few layers. Living in a tropical climate without air conditioning would be complete misery.

Have the people choosing oceanic climates actually been in an unheated house in the cold season? And yes, you can put on layers. It's not as effective when sitting still, and your face still feels the cold.

Yes, I have. I think I can deal with it, especially if the alternative is living in a tropical climate without air conditioning. That would be absolutely miserable. I couldn't even imagine it, to be honest. That's how horrible it would be. Yes, I know humans have done it throughout history. And those who have, I think, have also evolved the ability to cope with it (and I am not one of them). (Or those who have always lived in such a climate have acquired a tolerance for it.)

I've done the tropics with no AC. It's miserable at first but then you kind of get used to it. I've also done an oceanic climate with no heat except for an old wood burning stove. That was pretty awful, and I can't imagine living in such a climate with no heat at all. Even with wearing your coat indoors, dressing in layers, etc., you'd be cold all the time and grouchy as hell. No thanks.

Tropical without air conditioning obviously. You just eat less, wear less, drink plenty of water, easy. Living in the cold is dangerous, it not only means you're likely to die of exposure but your immunity will be very weakened, living in very cold air is unhealthy. Our ancestors and body evolved in tropical climates, we're far more suited to that in the absence of artificial temperature control.

Oceanic climate for me, especially in a warmer oceanic one like Melbourne (though maybe not in a tundra-like climate).

Everyplace I have lived, even in California and the Gulf South, has had heating.

I can't imagine not having heating in a place like Seattle. I couldn't even stand a northern CA winter without heating.

I withstood a northern CA summer without A/C just fine. I lived in the Northeast without A/C just fine. So, a tropical place like Hawaii would be fine for me without A/C.

Melbourne is not what I had in mind; it's like Santa Monica with more rainfall spread throughout the year. It's record lows are warmer than many locations on the Southern California coast.
Honolulu is also not what I had in mind for "tropical" just because it's less humid and gets more breeze.

I specified Seattle, London, and Paris for oceanic.
I specified Miami, Bangkok, and Acapulco for tropical.

I'd go for oceanic climate without heating, the other case is just miserable which I experienced enough when A/C was not working.
