Avg Temps:

March 2017: 31.8° (as of 21st)
February 2017: 34.3°
January 2017: 32.7°
December 2016: 32.1°
November 2016: 43.8°

The last time Hartford had a March colder than February was in 1984! and it's only happened 3 times since 1906!

The last time Hartford had a March colder than January was in 1950! But its happened 6 times since 1906. Interesting.

March colder than December only 12 times since 1906
Here's another interesting stat. Northwestern British Columbia is always warmer than northeast British Columbia during the winter months. So much so that Fort Nelson in the northeast is always colder than Dease Lake in the northwest (records began in the 1940s). Always until now. Not only was Dease Lake colder for the winter, but it was colder in all three months! It's never managed two months in winter let alone three!

Interesting.

Here's another...

The only other time NYC had a colder March than previous 4 months was 1960 & 1890.

Last time they had a colder March than February was 1984

I don't think will happen this year. Maybe just beat February & November of course.

It would be a rare occurrence if March was colder than all 4 months prior. Still 9 days left so we'll see.

But If March ends up colder than February it will be over 3 decades since that happened.

March colder than January been over 50yrs!

There are many more sites with similar stats.

2010, 2012, 2014 & 2015 had very little number of days with a max temp between 40-60°F in March & April. Maybe 2017 too?? Normal is 43°-52°

Point is... WHERE IS SPRING??

In 2010 & 2012 had many 60s and 70s.
2014 & 2015 many 30s then jumped to 60s in April.

It's either winter or Summer. Not many days with max temp in the 50s.

This stat find confirms my thoughts that we have only been having like 1 month of Spring lately!

10s: 1 Day
20s: 3 Days
30s: 27 Days
40s: 60 Days
50s: 66 Days
60s: 66 Days
70s: 53 Days
80s: 72 Days
90s: 18 Days

Did it end up happening? Or was the last week too mild. For Amherst, our March was just barely colder than any winter month this season.

I've made graphs of # of day with maxes for a given °F for an average year. Didn't sum over 10° ranges though

Last time Bridgeport, CT got 2.0"+ in 1 day was December 9, 2014 (845 days ago!). 3rd longest streak on record.

Keep in mind, this is only a midnight to midnight stat.

November 29-30, 2016 they got 2.67" with that storm.

Boston did it. Never happened before. Getting some interesting historic cold shots recent years. Lets see if they can become more common in next few yrs.
