This should be interesting. Basically, I'm asking you to post what your dream climate would be if you could not have more than a 20F seasonal variation in daily mean temperature.

As an example, my dream climate has daily means* ranging from -5.5F in January to 54.6F in July, thus the seasonal variation is 60.1 degrees. To qualify for this thread, the seasonal variation would have to be reduced to 20F or less. A climate that is 30F in January and 50F in July would qualify.

The purpose of all this is to reveal what sort of climate you would create if you couldn't have much of a seasonal variation. This is an area seldom explored on this forum. This is obviously more interesting to the four-season crowd than the tropical crowd, but if your dream climate already meets the criteria you may post it.

*In this case daily mean temperature is defined as the average of the average high and average low. To arrive at this figure, you add up the average high and the average low, and then divide by two. If your average low is 45F and your average high is 65F, your daily mean is 55F.

Now, here's the climate I would create if I was limited to a 20F variation:

Dead easy for me, just look at most tropical climates out there.

I'd pick either a warm sub-tropical or a tropical climate, where it's always (generally) between 15C (59F) & 26C (79F) year round.. Of course that would be the average, so it could get warmer than that if it wants

My dream climate already has less than 20°F variation from summer to winter (actually, I'm just too lazy to edit the Wikipedia boxes and uploading the image)

I would stick with my present climate, which has a range of about 20F. It has a nice summer and still a bit of a winter as well. Satisfactory rain and sunshine stats also - which is all I want from a climate.

My dream climate (Neipolis) has 22.5°F seasonal variation. I could do a slight tweak to make it to 20°F or I could create something entirely different.

Month/Mean High/Mean Low/Mean Temp

January 45/30/37.5
February 47/32/39.5
March 50/35/42.5
April 53/38/45.5
May 58/43/50.5
June 62/47/54.5
July 65/50/57.5
August 65/50/57.5
September 63/48/55.5
October 57/42/49.5
November 51/36/43.5
December 48/33/40.5

Record High: 85 F
Record Low: 10 F

It wouldn't be ideal since I'd want colder winters and slightly warmer summers, but this would be a good compromise. At least it'd be cold enough to allow for snowfall each winter even if unreliable.

I'm a mild/warm weather lover so this wouldn't be difficult for me at all. I'd probably make something like this weather station:
Sydney Olympic Park, New South Wales - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The range for that station is just under 20F. Ideally I'd want winters a bit cooler than that but this works fine too.

Here's my dream climate.

The less seasonal the climate, the warmer the mean temp. I prefer cold and snowy winters, but a reliable warm season is a must for me. In order to make winters more "wintry", the cooler months would be much cloudier and drier than in my dream climate, as I'm not a fan of mild and sunny or overly rainy weather in winter. So, even if temperatures would be more even, sunshine and rainfal would be more seasonal.
PM, you didn't say anything about record temperature requirements. Looking at your climate, even if the mean temps must be within 20°F, records are allowed to have more seasonal variation. I'd prefer much colder winter record lows, but given the averages, even -17°C is pushing it.

I would rather have warm summers/mild winters than cold winters/mild summers. Actually, I'd rather have no proper summer as opposed to a mild one. So somewhere with summers like McMurdo would work.
