Oh FFS. Stop being granny Owen, you're never going to be able to control what other people do. What snj said is a good idea, buy a loud fan to drown out noises plus the sound of the fan relaxes you to make it easier to fall asleep.

You have to be up at nine? That's not even that early. Even if you fall asleep in a couple of hours you'd still get six hours of sleep. Just try and relax, watch TV or something.

I have a fan on. I can still hear them.

I'm trying not to resort to complaining but I will if I have to.

well, if all else fails, you can always try thinking about something else. Get your mind off the outside noises.

I think I remember quiet hours in dorms on weeknights, obviously hard to enforce. Some people went to bed at midnight others later.

oh yeah, there were those... I forget if they were in effect or not on non-school nights. But yeah, not very enforceable.

Yeah it's 12, I goto bed at 12 anyway so I don't care but when they're loud and causing a racket at 2am then I get angry.

It's psychological. You ever notice, as a kid, that you couldn't sleep on Christmas Eve because of some stupid reason like the pillow being uncomfortable, when in reality it was because you were excited? Things like noise are often not the reason you can't fall asleep. It's something else that's making you restless.

If I'm tired enough I can fall asleep anywhere and in any position, no matter the amount of noise, light, etc.
