Severe thunderstorm means there are winds of 60 mph or more. We had one of those a few days ago. Every time the weather lady started to show our area on the radar Jim cut in and gave a severe weather warning. I knew we were having severe weather because it was happening outside. We lost two tree limbs and our yard was peppered with leaves blown from the trees. I turned to the weather channel to see if there was a tornado in the mix.
Yeah, I'm aware of that. I just would like to know what that poster would suggest in using instead of "severe".
TWC has lost all credibility with me. First off, they never show what is happening north of the 49th parallel. Where do they think our winter weather comes from? And, nothing south of the U.S./Mexican border. Again, no mention of the Southwest North American monsoon. Then they started getting away from weather and got on an environmental kick.
Nah to TWC. When I need to know the weather, I'll use the Accuweather ipad app. That's pretty cool.

According to them, weather only happens in Atlanta, NYC or anywhere else in the BosWash corridor.
The Weather Channel remains one of my favorite cable channels for weather. I am afraid it has increased non-weather related programming instead of focusing on weather.
If NBC kept WeatherPlus after the Weather Channel acquisition, there would be increased resources to provide weather reporting and programming on a cable channel and local weather on NBC affiliates' digital subchannels.
I wonder if there is room for a competing major weather cable channel to give Weather Channel competition.
You're probably old if you can remember watching The Weather Channel when it had weather on it and when the History Channel had history.
I am 22. I remember the last of the "fully weather" TWC. I watched it a lot starting in about late 2002. It wasn't long after that they started to lose their focus - maybe '05. The first of Weather Channel's shows, Storm Stories, came out on January 6, 2003. I remember when it came out.
I wouldn't call their current format/shows popular. I don't know anyone that watches the reality shows and other crap. They have lost most of their viewers. They should go back to live weather.
Although this new Weather Underground show does look interesting. And it has my favourite meteorologist. Too bad I'll never get to see it.
