NYC warmest of the year... at 81°F. Earlier than normal. Last 2 yrs happened after May 3rd to hit 81. Although ironically April 18, 2015 they hit 80.
I was in NYC that day. Thought it was hot, assumed it was just me not used to warmth and city concrete and lack of shade. Felt much cooler at 6 pm, besides the shade temperatures dropped fast.
Impressive how cold eastern Long Island can drop, despite being surrounded by water. Btw, the biggest change in leaf cover was right around the NY State / Connecticut border. Not much difference between here and Fairfield County on the Meritt.
