The three main long running stations in Sydney; Observatory Hill, Sydney Airport and Bankstown Airport.
Prospect Reservoir station (the one I pictured) is much older than Bankstown's though, which started from the 60s. Prospect has been recording rainfall since 1887.

So it does, but the temperature record isn't that much longer. I've never really given much though to Prospect.

Yes, true, temperature recordings started much later -- in the mid 1960s.
Prospect's station is underrated, methinks. It's in the middle of Sydney for starters, or at least at the center of western Sydney. They should use it more often to determine the climate of western Sydney. They usually rely too much on Bankstown airport when it comes to Western Sydney.
Perth station is in the middle of the CBD, Jandakot (the closest to me) is an airport (not very big) and in semi-suburbia, kind of in a natural corridor that stretches southwards but bordered to the east and west by residential regions.
