He claimed they were themselves to blame if they had no fire insurance (which many of them couldn't afford) for being left with nowhere to go. Just look at this thread from that very morning and you'll see the proof!
He didn't say that at all. His comments were totally blown out of proportion.
I remember it too. He wasn't blaming them or even insinuated it.
I mentioned the survivors potentially being relocated to somewhere hundreds of miles away, and he starts banging on about home and contents insurance. There was clearly no shred of sympathy for the people in question.
The implication seems to be that if they had home and contents insurance (ignoring the fact that people in social housing are not eligible for home insurance), they wouldn't be in this situation - i.e homeless and with nowhere to go.
I see no other reason why he would mention that in relation to what I posted - and, of course, most normal people wouldn't immediately jump to that ridiculous conclusion.
God knows why you're so eager to defend him. He certainly doesn't deserve it.
They should have home and contents insurance so they can use that to get the value of the flat.
I then said this:

Get a sense of perspective you moron.

Unless you're stupid, the implication is obvious.
