Though if you're from somewhere like Cornwall and leave for university, there's a good chance you won't return.
People can find that the change in culture from rural to urban is too much to consider a long term relocation to a more urban area.

As B87 mentioned, Sandbanks in Poole has some of the most expensive property in the world - it's always been a favourite for the rich. Not bad for a place that has 'crap' summers.
I lived half an hour away from there, so I'm aware of the area. I didn't say it was crap, but summer certainly isn't good there. It's just a nice place. The weather has absolutely nothing to do with the house prices, or the people that live there.

Gorgeous pictures from the south coast of England and the Channel Islands.

I am curious as to what these places look like in winter...

The contrast between winter and summer can be striking.

I mean this is Métis-sur-Mer, Quebec. 500 km northeast of Montreal. Borderline subarctic climate.

Dean has made no secret of the fact that the UK's climate just isn't for him, I respect that.

But the weather is a factor, because it's better than the rest of the country. If you want better weather but don't want to live in France or Spain (there are probably plenty of reasons why a person wouldn't want to), then areas like Poole are your best bet.

France seems like a much better place to live than the UK. Better weather, beautiful girls, better cuisine, less invasive government, etc

It also has higher taxes and more bureaucracy, which is why a lot of French millionaires moved to the UK in recent years.

London even has French-language schools to cater for the large French population.

It's hardly any sunnier or warmer than here. I'd say the majority of people live on Sandbanks for it's location, and to say they live in Sandbanks, rather than the weather.
Even if you go 50 miles east, the weather is noticeably better.

If you're a middle class person France seems better tho. A lot of Russian oligarchs run away to London too, since they broke the laws in Russia and don't want to face the consequences
