Which is cooler in your place, late autumn or early spring? (average, temperature)

Also, November has a lower sun than March, and much cloudier in a lot of places. Lack of sun will help feel colder as well.

I think of November as a cool but mostly mild month. March as almost winter. We've had several recent cold Marchs and warmer than usual November to make the difference more extreme. March typically has snow on the ground for part of the month; November rarely does more than a day or two.

Here early spring is most certainly colder then late fall. The march high is 2.7C, and the November high is 6.4. Not to mention that in early spring when there's precipitation the temperature usually drops, in the late fall when there's precipitation the temperature usually rises.

This late autumn was really cold. Felt like midwinter even. Made our early springs look like a typical late summer weather, minus the humidity.

There is very little seasonal lag here, so temps in November drop like a rock

Going by meteorological seasons:
Average temperatures in March are 42/24 (6/-4)
Average temperatures in November are 46/30 (8/-1)
Thus late autumn is warmer than early spring.

Going by astronomical seasons:
Average temperatures on March equinox are 44/26 (7/-3)
Average temperatures on Dec solstice (my birthday) are 29/15 (-2/-9)
Thus early spring is warmer than late autumn.

So in short, it depends on what definition of the seasons you use.

Early spring seems warmer here, mostly due to the higher sunshine levels. Last November was my first month here, but that was a chilly November, and it was a lot colder than March of this year. Not sure how typical that is, though.

But record low is lower in March than in November.

Thinking about it again, I still agree with myself several pages earlier.

For instance this year mild weather started in february. When I mean mild weather I mean every day above 10c and often 15c, and no frost. March can be warm, this year we had quite a few days above 20c at the end of the month and I stopped wearing winter clothing by february. Nights in March are still quite cold, and sometimes it can snow, but overall it is a spring month, and it is often sunny and dry, although sometimes it can be cool and rainy (March 2016 for instance which was much cooler than this year)

November is rarely very cold, but mostly it never gets warm. At most we can have 15c days at the beginning of the month, but that's it. Also, this is the fog and darkness month, with a perpetually damp atmosphere. By late november it definitely looks like winter.

Map would be good to see. Interestingly, as for eastern Europe in Minsk btw November is warmer than March, in Moscow March is just 0.2c warmer than November.
In Volgograd November is 0.8c warmer than March, even in Astrakhan November is 0.8c warmer, in Saratov November is warmer than March. However Perm which is in the easternmost Europe has warmer March than November for instance.



In my area March has colder daily means due to colder average lows, November has colder average highs.
