Type Iv is pretty dark and from the Italians I have seen they only get there from extreme tanning.
Prototype IV actually just mean that you can get tan really easy, but if they don's stay under the sun they don't necessary look tanned. For example, me and my sister look pale the same in this period of the year, but we notice the difference during the summer, when my sister gets tanned from the really first day at the seaside while I start with a sunburn and I start to get tanned from the 3rd day (I'm prototype III, while my sister is a little closer to IV).
Now I can't find any decent statistic, I've only found that the most of Italians are somewhere between prototype III and IV.

What are these "olive" undertones? Pale olive?

Australia has high skin cancer rates, but I'm not sure everybody looks like lobsters. Type III skin is still highy prone to skin cancer, so that doesn't invalidate anything.

Yes it is, put a picture of a pale redhead next to one of Cristiano ronaldo and I think you will see the difference.

OK then, so what about actual skin tones now? I'm sure if I tanned enough I'll hit type v.

What would putting an extreme Type I next to him achieve?

Just to help you see the contrast.

I'm pretty sure this debate is about the skin type of typical Brits. The typical Brit isn't a ghostly redhead.

Am I talking to Saxonwold here?

Where on earth did you get that I was implying Brits are ghostly redheads?
