Wish there was air conditioning in my accommodation - the fans just ain't cutting the mustard.

Wish there was a river here too- a beautiful, clear, deep, fast flowing, 70 cu metres a second river. It doesn't seem right not to be swimming.

Get ready for Friday and the weekend:

https://higginsstormchasing.com/welc...rth-australia/

This is the culmination of blistering heat brewing over several weeks, and could well be the biggest heatwave event in central eastern Australia in living memory, and we have had some crackers in Jan 2013 (which defeated longstanding records from Jan 1939) and Feb 2004.
Inland suburbs now preparing for 44-47C for 3 days, will be very interesting if this can penetrate the coast.
If it does, all records are about to be smashed this weekend.

February records could be approached this weekend in NSW, approaching the blistering heatwave of Feb 2004.
Forecasts like this in the Hunter Valley:

Singleton weather - local weather forecast

And Western Sydney:

Penrith and Richmond weather - local weather forecast

http://www.weatherzone.com.au/nsw/sydney/penrith

With temps of 45C to up 47C , these are some of the bravest forecast temps I have seen, and more reminiscent of outback places like Bourke or Birdsville.
As stated above, it will be of considerable interest if this can penetrate the coast.

Those averages in Australia in combination with those records by the coast like in Sydney and Melbourne really are strange. It's unthinkable that Bilbao or Porto or even Lisbon could reach 45C in summer for example...

It is often the case though, that record heat gradually moves across to SA and then the East coast.
In the February 2004 heatwave, Feb records were smashed across SA, then the outback, then coastal NSW and Qld over a 2 1/2 week period.

Where the hell is summer? What has happened to simpler times, when if it was cool in summer it would still reach 25.
