Here's the current discussion. Snow all over the place.

About 9cm on the ground here so far.
Crazy day there. Did you get all your shoveling done? When will it melt?

I enjoyed the read! Thanks! Looks like more snow tomorrow as well for some areas.

NWS NY also mentioned the Polar Vortex. I am trapped between it and an Upper Low in the South.

National Weather Service New York NY
139 PM EDT Sun Apr 23 2017

Region lies in a near zonal upper flow today between a polar
upper low over Hudsons Bay and a closing upper low moving
through the deep south. At the surface...high pressure slides
east this afternoon into tonight.

Mostly sunny conditions today with sunshine occasionally filtered
by jet cirrus. Afternoon return flow and s/se sea breezes
underway along the south coasts. This will limit temps along
the south coastal areas to current temps in the upper 50 to
lower 60s...dropping into the lower to mid 50s by late
afternoon. High temps should peak in the mid 60s for NYC/NJ
metro with mid to late afternoon sea breezes...while temps
across the far N & W interior should be able to rise into the
upper 60s to around 70 with deeper mixing and outside of
maritime influence.

Stunning day today. Wish we had more of these in Spring or at least many in a row. Sunny and Low 60s. Back to overcast and rain next couple days...

April is usually not too hot here but the past few weeks have had wicked humidity and days in the 80s. I'm looking forward to this weekend in MPLS just hope it doesn't rain the whole time.

This week and weekend in the East.......While the intensity has let up it will still feel like June north of DC.

Lets look at Upper Height Anomaly from 4 models for next Sunday morning time frame. (warmth starts mid week and lasts through the weekend then seasonable following week)

Canadian... Highest Anomaly over Southern New England

Navy - Southern New England Bullseye

GFS - Northern Mid Atlantic Bullseye

Euro - Northern Mid Atlantic.

National Weather Service Max temp forecast. Circled are what would be a record for that location. Not many which is surprising, I think.

South of Latitude 40N it's gonna be multiple days of hotness.

Wednesday

Thursday

Friday

Saturday

Yeah, I made the decision to shovel early so that subsequent snow would melt on contact with pavement. It's worked out so far.

Melt rate depends on the sun. It could melt quickly at this time of year. Forecast though is for cloudy skies and flurries, high temperatures 2-3°C next couple of days. Some might stick around until Wednesday?
