I thought NAO didn't have much affect on lower latitudes in summer? Or is that just AO? Or is it because how record breaking it is?
I think it has an effect all yr round, more so in cooler seasons since the Jet can get Amplified. In summer a flatter jet over Pacific and U.S wouldn't mean much even with negative NAO. Also.. if it wasn't for the Upper Low that formed down south I don't think we would be seeing this. I think that ULL forced the cold air to dive south even more. People talk about the above normal temps in the Arctic little do they realize THAT ITS STILL FRIGID. lol

These are relatively isolated places but not that far north in the grand scheme of things: latitude about 50°N. South of me, south of London, England, even.
Somewhat further north, at Inukjuak on the shores of Hudson Bay, there's a May blizzard happening:
Inukjuak is at latitude 58°N so still south of Oslo. Pretty isolated but there is a webcam if anyone wants to watch the action unfold; actually doesn't look too bad there right now. DAWC - WxCam - Inukjuak
Wow!! Thanks for the info and link. Forgot to check the warnings.
Cloudy under the Upper Low in Northeast. Clouds Clouds Clouds. Snow Snow Snow in Ontario and high peaks in NY. 80s in North Dakota.
