As for convective storms, Hard to tell what's convective and what's not; our summer rain isn't as purely convective as yours. Yesterday morning started with 15 minutes of rain at 6:30 then another batch at 10 AM. Seems to early to be convective, but they were small pop-up things. This just missed me in the afternoon; we've had days with big storms passing nearby but nothing much interesting here

We just had an insane storm here. Very heavy rain, very frequent lightning and we were getting some pretty high wind gusts, pretty awesome. Down poured here for a good hour or so, still moderately raining outside right now with frequent lightning/thunder.

BTW here we can get convective storms as early as 10 AM, though our sun reaches a higher sun angle a lot quicker than you in the morning (and the opposite in the afternoon).

Jealous. I haven't had a proper t-storm overhead since June...

Sucks man. :/ Seems you guys are more and more susceptible to high pressure the later into summer you go.

There have been a decent number of t-storms in the area over the past two weeks. They just either die before they get here, or form nearby and move the other way. The airport has recorded thunder 11 days out of 19 so far this month.

Looks like we have a good shot at t-storms this weekend, but then high pressure may become more dominant next week.

Last year, late summer was actually considerably better than early summer. August was the wettest month of 2016 with 10.35" of rain and 16 precip days! It also had some pretty impressive thunderstorms.

Another hot and humid day here. Currently 87 F/31 C with a dewpoint of 69 F/21 C (heat index 91 F/32 C). Hot, muggy, draining, useless weather the next few days. Early next week looks drastically cooler with forecast highs in the low-to-mid 70s. Hopefully that will come to fruition.

Lake breeze is very evident as it pushes inland. Actually sparked a thunderstorm cell not far from me

St. Louis has also been bone dry lately, which is probably why they are forecasting such extreme heat there, DFW and back in Indianapolis though, forecasts are calling for low to mid 90's in Indianapolis and upper 90's to near 100 for Dallas/Fort Worth
