Religion was created to explain things that couldn't be explained. Science makes religion obsolete.

If it was a private matter, I wouldn't mind as much; however, many of the less than stellar aspects of religion spill out into public life all the time. Religion doesn't have a monopoly on morality.

Because grown adults are walking around believing fairytales that were invented by Palestinian shepherds over 2000 years ago in order to explain a world that they did not understand.

And I disagree with your suggestion that it's a moral compass, most religions are morally flawed. If you took the Bible literally you'd be throwing gays off buildings.

Seriously? If you need religion to have a sense of hope and a moral compass, you should get yourself checked out. You shouldn't need some manmade, obsolete concept to have a "moral compass" and a sense of worth.
