I think Led Zeppelin are the greatest band ever, but you're definitely right that you need to be "in the mood" to listen to them.
Late 70's Disco hasn't had much of a mention, I think it was a great genre. Chic, Bee Gees, early MJ work, etc. Overall the 80's was the high point for pop in general.
I love Led Zeppelin, but my all-time favorites are The Beatles.
Pink Floyd is just... meh. I like some of their songs, but I am rarely in the mood to listen to them. Not really my style.

True! In my social circle, from the oldies, it seems like Michael Jackson and Bob Marley are the ones who remained the most popular. And the early-80s New Wave too
