Thunderstorms are exciting, that's why. I enjoy the intensity of the situation - heavy rain, strong winds and loud thunder. I also enjoy the visual aspects from the appearance of the rolling, boiling dark clouds (especially at gust fronts) or the billowing towers of cumulonimbus clouds. Not to mention the beauty of lightning itself as it flashes across the sky.
