Cold front supposed to come through today, but not much of a precip chance with it. After the front it will still be pretty warm, but with less humidity.

Quote:
The sfc cold front remains north of the area this morning,
extending from northern LA into east TX and southwest toward the
southern TX plains. Ahead of the front, warm and muggy conditions
continue with temperatures generally in the lower to middle 70s,
and dewpoints in the lower 70s. Other than a few small showers
over coastal areas this morning, little activity is noted on KLCH
radar.

DISCUSSION...
The cold front will slowly move southward acrs the area today
and tonight, finally reaching the coast Friday morning. Ahead of
the front, temperatures will again be warm with highs near 90
degrees again. Despite ample moisture over the region with precip
water between 1.8-2.0 inches, convergence along the front will be
weak. This, with limited support aloft due to continued ridging,
will keep shower and tstm chcs on the low side, with activity
generally isolated to widely sctd. Coverage is expected to be
highest acrs lower southeast TX where better low lvl forcing is
expected to develop during the aftn.

A drier and somewhat cooler airmass will lag behind the front,
slowly working into the area late Friday into Saturday as sfc high
pres gradually builds over the region. Overnight lows will trend
closer to seasonal normals with temperatures around 60 north/mid
60s south by Saturday and Sunday mornings. From Friday through the
weekend, aftn highs will still be warm with temperatures in the
middle/upper 80s but without the humidity to make things
uncomfortable.

with Jose and then Maria, Northeast US Atlantic coast must be really churned up. Wish I lived closer to the coast for wave watching

Yesterday only recorded a trace of rain, so it's now 19 days without measurable precipitation. This is tied for the 7th longest on record and is the longest since 1977.

We haven't had any rain since August 23rd, and that streak looks to continue here for the foreseeable future as the fall dry season has moved in. Probably will get our next rain in late November

Yeah, I saw the waves cresting from behind the dunes at Jones Beach this morning, the ocean normally isn’t visible from Ocean Parkway, because of said dunes.

Only 0.10" in last 3 weeks here and if the Ridge continues to be the mean for Eastern U.S, expect the dryness to continue. I'm not complaining about the dryness (even though we can use the rain) but does it have to be hot as well? lol

Interesting to read "ahead" of the front when you're south of it technically. I'm used to East being ahead of it. Also, interesting that PWAT values are near 2.0" yet lack of rain falling. I bet where it does fall it will be very heavy.

So this front was dry from Texas to Northeast? A dry front in Autumn.

8amEST Surface Map. Nantucket feeling Tropical effects again with drizzle and as Nei pointed out some rough surf. I think they felt remnants of Harvey, Irma, Jose and now Maria.
