Well this Jan has been a 180 from last Jan for my area. Even i was not expecting this active upper level pattern. Very odd. I hope Feb and March are the same.

I hope next winter is payback for the record cold in 13-14, 14-15 and now 17-18 for the east. January 1950 repeat for the west!

I want winters like we had in 1981 thru 1985 with the super freezes. Time to reset the playing field and get the coconut palms to grow where they should be, not 30 miles displaced to the north. Everyone has planted stuff way far north where they should not be planted. Every winter since 2010 has been super warm for my area.

Vancouver has been taken over by palms over the past couple decades as well. Many died when we dipped below -15C in 2008, where we saw the coldest temps since 1990. Haven't seen anything close to that since which has only encouraged more to sprout up.

Cold places that grow palms just look desperate to show something they are not.

Well gabbage palms do fine in north FL. Queen palms can take much colder than Coconuts, but get burned in temps lower than 25f.

^ North FL is not a cold place. That plus palms grow naturally there.

But not coconut palms at all. The coconut line used to be south St pete since it has water on all 3 sides. It has Miami like weather. Since 1981 the coconut like has move 30 miles more north. The super freezes of the early and mid 80's killed many as far south of Sarasota. But since 1990 we had no real super freezes until 2010 when it got to around 25f in my area. But since 2010 it has been super warm minus this Jan as this was the first time we were below 32f since 2011. Queen palms also can't grow in the Panhandle area.

Gabbage palms grow on the coast in SC and can take teens.

Getting a good frog soaker now. I have just loved this Jan. You don't even see me being happy about my local weather unless we have a hurricane or a real winter with changes every few days. I could take this weather year round.
