Southern Louisiana has been getting plentiful rainfall lately, some coastal areas got excessive rainfall this past weekend. I've had close to normal rainfall this month, though September thru December was pretty dry, especially Sept & Oct.
There's a large drought-free area in southeast Texas; I guess that's the area that got drenched by Harvey?

fronts seem like it's west-east rather a usual south-north with a bit of tilt. This line of clouds must not happen that often?

Record cold continues in northeastern nc.... after the record cold january water temps cooled to record cold levels with record fish die off... as a result they have their own bubble of record cold there no matter if its a warm up or not.... when its all said and done they will finish with one of their coldest winters ever... in other news spring is round the corner as many trees are budding (mainly early bloomers like cherry, maple, and bradford).... cherries will be first to blossom likely on one of the warm days in the next 10.

Bad news if La Nina sticks around for Spring and Summer I think. If a ridge builds down south with a severe drought in place get ready for headlines.

I love reading the summaries. They always talk about the overall pattern: New Update coming out today

Overview
"A westerly flow dominated the upper-level circulation across the contiguous U.S. (CONUS) during this U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) week. The week began with a frontal system exiting the eastern CONUS, and ended with another Pacific system moving across the country"

SouthEast
"The fronts blasted through the Southeast at the beginning and end of the week, but precipitation amounts were generally below normal with only a few stations reporting an inch or more. Low streamflows, drying soils, and drought indices..."

While our negative departures here got demolished by the warmer days we still ended up below normal... it was nice to see a pretty even blend for the entire month, rather than "just 4 days of warm ruining it".
