Well tomorrow is supposed to be 108 in Austin. I plan to be out in it, don't want to miss out on such remarkable heat. Have to mow the grass, weed, do some other things. I'll see if the low humidity will make the heat any more bearable and I'll see what the shade vs. the blistering sun feels like in comparison. The wind is calm too since we're right under the dome, the so called "dog days" of summer because there is no wind. Pressures are really high, you can actually see the sinking air which is causing the drying, I saw someone barbecuing and the smoke was hovering around the grill and sinking not going up like normal. Doesn't help for pollution for sure. But with fewer cars on the road because of COVID we still have fairly good air quality.
So question: do you prefer the 106 with feels like 108 that Austin, TX had today or 93 with feels like 108 in Lake Charles, LA today? Both had sunny skies, the only difference was humidity. Lake Charles had a slight wind (sea breeze) coming off the Gulf, the wind was calm in Austin. The sea breeze caused Lake Charles' temp to be lower but the humidity to be higher. Here's a real world example. 13 degrees cooler in Lake Charles but same feels like as Austin. Which do you take?

My GF lives near Houston and says that this summer is horrible, with no end in sight. She would rather come up here to see snow in winter, which is a big change since she doesn’t like cold weather all that much either.
I would hate to experience 38 days above 95 F. Yuck .
Since 2011 our falls have been blazing hot. All them record 90's in Nov of 2015 and the last two Octs were the hottest ever. Just think what another 30 years will be like when it will be 90's year round and then into the 100's out past 70 years.
Likely the tearing down of trees and replacing it all with concrete led to this. Or there's been a change in the atmosphere with the ridging or tough. In September or October, when it starts to cool off else where, it's still blazing hot here. You wait and wait for the cooler weather and it just arrives later and later. We can never seem to catch a break down here anymore. It's just year round heat, the last few Decembers have been really hot. If most of my family didn't live here, I'd left a long time ago.

Used to see 50's by Oct 10th most years when we had real winters. Even had a 58 and 62f around Sept 18th in 1980 or 81 in Tampa. Last Oct 66f was the coolest that month in my area well north of Tampa. I expect a dry and blazing fall. Still no rain for Aug.
Meanwhile in Death Valley. Low temps will be around 100F LMAO
