Redding is an oddity. It has winters of Portland (much milder but more rain) but summers more like the Inland Deserts than the rest of the Central Valley. It doesn't get the Delta breeze that Sactown gets and it rivals Bakersfield in temps. Yet surrounded by giant forests because of the high rainfall rates in the winter. It's a very unique climate in the world, no doubt about it.

That seems plausible, but I have my doubts because if that were true then Tahoe should be much colder. I actually think it might have something to do with the ground. Harder surface = more heat? Ex. I've seen days where shaver is 20f+ cooler than Yosemite! That shouldn't be possible.

Downtown Sacramento got to 111f today!

Wish we had our local heat afficinado here to talk about this heatwave(firebirdcamero )

This summer has been insane for the world this year. Looking at the temperatures and it is hot all over the world this summer. 90s in London, Seattle, San Francisco. 110+ in the western US. 110+ in the Middle East. Then finally 100+ in Houston and other areas. I would say this summer has been unprecedented in terms of heat world wide.

Edit: Looking back a few of those places get temperatures like that pretty often, but still I think some are record breaking, but I need like someone that knows this stuff better than I do to check I guess. To me it feels like it has been hot since all my friends are talking about how hot the entire world has been this summer mostly. So maybe I am correct in that this has been a record breaking summer worldwide.

I told everyone last winter this would be a record hot summer for many. Just about everyday in FL is above normal year round now. Almost no rain at all this summer for my area at around 5" total since June 13th.

Well I'm 40 miles from the lake. ORD is 12 miles and MDW is 9 miles. In most years Midway gets more 90s than O'Hare

When the new 1991-2020 norms come out O'Hare will average 16 90F+ days a year while Midway will average 21 days

I don't even trust the NWS station nearest to me anymore. Something is definitely off with IKK. I've emailed NWS/Chicago and they said they're looking into it.

Anyways BIG difference between the GFS and the Euro in terms of temps over the rest of August.

CFSv2 leans towards the Euro especially in week 2

Our local forecasters only show one cool day and that's Tuesday. Back up to around 90 degrees by next weekend.

Still not a drop of rain for Aug. Looks like this summer could be as dry or worse than 2006 the summer of no rain with 6" total. As long as we are stuck in a west flow i will never get rain. The high has not moved in months and will never move.

Drizzling here. Finally a morning we're not suffocating.

Note that rain moving opposite direction over the Atlantic right into NJ. I believe that's the marine layer at a different level in the atmosphere. Pretty cool!
