(I'm sorry if there are a bunch of threads on this topic. I looked through the first page of threads and didn't see this, and I doubt that searching "rain" would be helpful.)

I'm comparing two places in the PNW.
City A averages 38 inches per year, has 165 days with precipitation, and has 156 sunny days.

City B averages 84 inches per year, has 126 days with precipitation, and has 191 sunny days.

I don't mind rain and could live in either place. But for someone who wants "less" rain, and who wants to walk outside each day, which place would feel less rainy?

I think I'd prefer the climate with fewer rainy and more sunny days (Climate B), even though the total amount of rainfall is much higher. 35 more sunny days is more than a month of extra sunshine. I hope the walking areas are paved though, because that's one soggy place.

I would rather see 30" of rain in 6 weeks time than just get 30" in a years time.

Definitely the rainy day metric is more important.

You ever see that when you go on vacation to a tropical destination, and the forecast says rain literally every single day, but yet when you're there you're enjoying all of the outdoor activities as per normal...because there was a huge downpour at 2 in the afternoon for about 30 minutes and sunny the rest of the day that week.

I wonder which PNW cities you are looking at? Those rainy day metrics align with Vancouver (165 per year) and Victoria (126) per year but the inches don't match (Vancouver has about 45 inches vs Victoria's 23 inches, the former is actually quite a dry city relative to coastal PNW).

OP you aren't fair here. Posting a bigger difference of rain amount than of rainy days between A&B.

I like rainy days with slow rain, but I see now I'm in a small minority. I just find it very peaceful.

We get 60", and have 155 sunny days, 174 days with precipitation. If I didn't like that, we wouldn't have stayed here for the last 27 years. I do have to admit that the week+ of unusual sunny days earlier this month were a nice treat.
