Is the Great Plains, Midwest, and Gulf States about to be hit with a massive heat wave?
This YTers seems to think so. How will that affect Canada and the Northeast Corridor? Will Canada have more fires now? Will the Northeast also get hotter or does the Appalachian Mountains protect? Will this heatwave be humid?
I checked my weather app, and for the next week and a half NYC will be pretty cool. So when is the this heatwave going to hit actually, Labor Day?
According to the video, it looks like most of the heat wave will be contained to the Plains states, and won't affect the Northeast. For example, in Kansas City, the forecast says 6 days in a row of 100+ degree weather starting tomorrow. It looks like rain will occur at the northern end of the heat dome, which should actually help with the wildfires. At around the 2:22 mark in the video, it looks like northern Ontario and Quebec will get a bunch of rain.
Manitoba and Saskatchewan are getting some heat today and tomorrow, but aside from that, looks like Canada will be experiencing typical mild temperatures.
This will be an issue if you live in St.Louis, Wichita, Kansas City, Des Moines, Omaha, OKC, Tulsa, DFW and areas around there. And by 'issue' I mean it will be pretty damn hot. For other areas I don't think it's going to be anything worth talking about.

It has been quite hot and dry in other parts of Western Canada and the North, notably British Columbia along with much of the Yukon and Northwest Territories.
Extreme humidity, dewpoints over 75F due to all the evapotranspiration from the corn fields.
Some of the worst heat and humidity I've experienced anywhere in the US. Try 105F with a 78F dewpoint, heat index of 125F+. This was in Lawrence, KS back in 2006-07.
Mid Atlantic is in for a week of great late summer weather. One day of near 90 on Monday, then upper 70s and 80s the rest of the week.
Canadian fires are arson so the weather doesn't play much of a part except rain which can help put them out.

Most of the fires were caused by lightning strikes.
