I watched the daily news report from Germany via Roku streaming, and they reported temps on April 6 above 27C/80F in many locations. That was record warmth for the first week in April, and daily high temperature records were smashed in a big area of the country.

Drought has nearly vanished in the Southern U.S.

November 7 vs April 2

Quite a deluge coming this week. Could be a severe risk as well, but doesn't look like a high end threat.

That's what you get with the elevation gradient west of Raleigh. It's exactly the reason why I'm perfectly willing to put up with April last frosts in special spot Asheville (my favorite Appalachian Mountain place to monitor).

But Raleigh is certainly lucky. Considering their usual April minimum is literally just 0.1C away from being frost.....I like the 3C forecast.
Frost hollow Statesboro ended up at 39 F again this morning, so that'll probably end up being the monthly low for April.

KSAV down to 44 F, 2 F warmer than yesterday morning.
KCHS down to 43 F, 1 F warmer than yesterday morning.
KDNL down to 45 F, 3 F warmer than yesterday morning.

Special spot KRDH actually overperformed a bit and got down to 36 F. Still freezeless since Feb.
Special spot KAVL had a light freeze. Down to 31 F.

Watch how fast the red comes back for my area. I need 100" to make up for 5 dry years.

Ah yes, no nasty surprises even for overperforming Raleigh and frost hollow Statesboro. I particularly appreciate how Raleigh got past this even with the overperforming, maintaining such an unprecedently good performance is an excellent contrast to the March 20 ripoff from the likewise unprecendently good December 26 last frosts that Lafayette Airport got last year.

April 7 for Asheville, if it is the last frost, would be within pretty good territory for me. As their average last frost is April 18 I like for theirs to be within the single-digit days for a realistic yet reasonable performance.

In Tromso Norway, April began with a cold snap. After six days with no days above freezing, the last time this happened was in April 1990, when a daily cold record was broken on the second - (POR 1867).

Got up to around 15C today, but sun was very strong so it was a t-shirt weather afternoon for me.
