I wish I didn't know what "cold" is...

My nerve disorder tells me 12 C (54 F) is just low enough to always feel distinctly-cold.

Not something I relish, actually. There's a point where it gets too sunny.

Agree re the wind part. Canberra is the country's least given it's inland location.

Darwin averages 3100 hours of sun a year. The "Dry" season sees April to November averaging over 250 hours of sun. April 263; May 299; June 297; July 313; August 319; September 295; October 293 and November 252.

Perth RO averages 2893 hrs per annum and the Aero site 3208 hrs BUT the Aero site has been open only 16 years which doesn't meet the standard requirement of 30 years of records needed to give complete averages.

Sydney: Heavy/torrential downpours that can appear and stop suddenly. Long periods of rainy/showery/cloudy weather. Humidity in the summer. 20oC minimums during January to March. Thunderstorms with damaging hail and gusts. Extreme swings of temperatures from day to day especially during Autumn and Spring. Cold windy westerlies in winter. Put it this way Sydney experiences just about everything, weather can be very variable.

Mostly beautiful blue skies, mild weather (if it gets to be 92 degrees, it's on the news) lots of sunshine. However lately we have a lot of vog (volcanic emissions) which is pretty funky. Last 3 days have been like pea soup ala the "Kona winds". If the trades are cooperating, much better. The higher your elevation, the cooler your climate and more rain so people choose where to live depending on that, lots of times.

Was at Kailua Kona for a week or two in Sep 1995 - loved it. Also did a fascinating drive "over the top" to the other side and back around the north.
