It's probably somewhere in inland Portugal or on the windward side of the Balkans, it's very similar to Ioannina.
It couldn't really be California because the summers are too wet.
Edit: It actually probably isn't on the Balkans as the spring takes too long to warm up. Inland Portugal is my guess then.
