I never really associated sunshine much of the seasons. Did more so after moving to upstate NY. I'm a bit puzzled why Mac15 connects sun with snowmelt. If it's cold, snow's not going to melt. Actually if it's freezing cold it can't melt; it sublimates. Sublimation adds up. Watch, for example, January 2010:
up to Jan 24 it doesn't really get warm but the snowpack slowly declines from a peak of 13 inches on the 9th. Most of the decline is on highs above freezing. There are some another months (Feb 2007) where sublimation takes an inch or two out of the pack.
Five hours of sleep on a night when I can get as much sleep as I want. No reason, just bam, up at 6 AM wide awake. Another weekend wasted.
I also managed to scrape the bottom of my brand new car on a curb last night, any damage will nicely rust thanks to our lovely salted winter roads. Just perfect.
