I had a coworker who commuted from Wellington to our office in Fort Lauderdale. He wasn't too thrilled about it. Sometimes he drove, but more often than not he took the train, although he had to drive quite a bit from his house in Wellington to the train station in Palm Beach. The good thing is that our Fort Lauderdale office is right next to the Tri-Rail station. Bottom line - it was a hike.

I live in Wellington and although I love it if your husband will be working in Ft. Lauderdale I would move closer to there. My husband commutes to Miramar which is even further than Ft. Lauderdale from Wellington and the drive gets old quick, but unfortunately he has to put up with the commute for the job.

When I first moved to South FL I lived in Parkland. It's a nice area. I don't have kids but my neighbors there seemed happy with the schools and Parkland in general has a reputation for being more affluent. I have friends that live in Weston and it seems like a very nice community too. The good thing about Parkland is you are very close to the Sawgrass Expressway and the Turnpike which I prefer over having to take I-95.

I do agree with a previous post about the commuting time is much faster going north to south than from east to west and vice versa so I would keep that in mind.

Good luck in your search.
