Wow. Thanks for the information.

I love bees and am not at all afraid of them (had hundreds, maybe more, in my yard in Boca and was never once stung) so this is important for me to know, as it seems i need to change my behavior around bees.

Sad.

Oh know! I have a bee phobia! Has this been a problem recently? I noticed the last post on this thread was in 2007. Anyone know?

if you find yourself chased by a swarm of bees, try to put your shirt over your head (this prevents them from stinging your neck where there is sever risk) and run, after a certain distance from the nest, they will stop chasing you.

Unforntunately, I have not seen any bees in my yard this year of any kind! Honey bees and regular bees are necessary.

Default from bughater

i, too, am planning a move in the near future to PBCounty, and greatly hate bugs of all kinds!! especially ants, fire ants and now the killer bees. i am older and unable to run...i do plan to walk outdoors about an hour a day, 6 days weekly, how much chance i could have an encounter with the killer bees? also, i am told that fire ants are easily controled on one's property. ...from bughater

Bughater, killer bees are really not something that you have to worry about. Of the list of concerns I have on a daily basis, killer bees are at or very near the bottom.
