LOL, we're talking about which city has the worst NY'ers! Sorry, I shouldn't laugh, but that's pretty bad. It's like, ok, both Charlotte and South FL have a lot of NY'ers, but which area has the least amount of mean ones? Pretty disappointing to hear that about CLT. People there were always pretty friendly a while ago. But when you get the folks that in the past would move to S FL now moving to CLT instead, it's no suprise.

Actually, I love the mountains. They're so cool to look at. In my opinion, FL is just too bland with too much concrete... but the beaches are pretty though.

Let me say the Native's or the people who have lived there for a long time Were great and friendly and my comments do NOT refer to the NC Natives...I just wanted to make that clear I was talking just saying in General that the influx of Northerners now im not talking Floridian's because im not from here originally, South Florida was always a HUB so to speak for NYker's or Northerners we will say..Charlotte on the other hand is now over the last 3 years or so being inundated by everyone running from where they came from, and since all the other northerners are there maybe "I will move there too" there is also a huge difference in Mentality and not in a bad way here in South Florida and we are very comfortable here..We also never forgot where we came from Unfortunately I cant say the same from where we moved from..We are NYKER's without the bad attitude and am certainly not rude and obnoxious.Again not all of us are that way..LOL..I say to each their own..I know about the Mountains we lived in Littleton Colorado for 5.5 years and we woke up every morning to the foothills and it was so beautiful waking up too...But again everyone has places and things they love, you love the mountains and I'm glad that you found your happiness there that is very important...But there are people like us who think this is a little piece of heaven and I don't think people should DEFEND where and why they are happy...
We all love the palm trees and the tropics, and see all sides of Florida for what it is and Still wouldn't change our decision..With that being said we dont love everything about it but there is no perfect place..

I really do agree with you. I did not like Boca or the people in south Florida, but if you are happy, good for you! I miss the palm trees and the beach too!

If you're happy, that's all that matters. There are some very pretty areas in S FL.

What has me curious is why people who do not like a place spend so much time posting to the forum FOR that place. A comment pro or con in a thread is one thing, but to beat a dead horse about a place that is no longer home and brings back bad memories.....find your happy place, folks! Life is too short.

Now to get back on topic- what kind of car do you drive..... JK
Florida was my home for 25 years and it was VERY good to me...City-Data is my favorite message board! I read lots of threads from different places that I've NEVER been to, I love reading about different places. When I read a question posted that hits a nerve w/ me and I do have strong feelings about...sure I respond!!!! I think what makes this such a GREAT forum is that people ARE passionate about different places and good or bad, if you have an opinion SAY IT!!!! I personally have no 'bad memories' but I do like to chime in when I have an opinion! Now to get back on topic...LOL...what kind of car do I drive???? LOL...when I lived in Fl I drove a corvette, in the mountains I drive a 4 wheel drive pick up truck!!!!

Hey you guys! In have been following this thread for the last couple of days and loving the information I have been gathering. Swimmom and Magnolia Bloom (so you finally made the move from Jax?) have been really informative. I have been to Boca a few times and although the people there can be materialistic, they are not rude at all. Nor are they snobs! The school system is practically one of the best in the state and the culture is diverse. That's the main reason why we are making the move over there in the next few months. We live in Jacksonville and we think this place is just not for us.

I don't get everyone's frustration with Boca. I don't even mind the people there or talk to them when I go. Because it's all about me. I go there to shop or to pick up something and then I leave. I don't care if they have a nasty attitude or not. I'm not there for them. Besides one thing I never do is go to Boca just looking like anything. I always try to look very fresh and nice like I have money so I'm not stereotyped. I end up looking better than half the people with money I see at the mall. And I'm minding my own business. People look at me. I don't look at them. That is why you must always be one step above the rest when your in a rich enclave.
